Helena Paparizou’s 2011 comeback to release her Greatest Hits album has already resulted in what’s been one of the absolute best songs to come out this year – ‘Baby It’s Over’. That titan of a club tune gave the Greek-Swede her first number 1 in Greece for three years, and pretty much re-established her as a force to be excited about in pop music. The Greatest Hits album is released next week, but now we’ve got another new song to be taken from it, the second single, ‘Love Me Crazy’.

It all starts off as quite an ethnic sounding song, with big drums and a slow tempo, and you instantly assume it’s going to be an entirely different kettle of fish to ‘Baby It’s Over’. However, all familiarity is restored when the mammoth dance beats come in for the chorus. It reveals itself to be a hugely up-tempo, pounding track. Not quite as instant as its predecessor, but after a few listens you realise that there really is something quite special there, and that the former wasn’t just a fluke. Although in our case, we were also left with an overwhelming sense of disappointment that both singles are only to be taken from a Greatest Hits album, as opposed to a forthcoming new dance album from her. And that’s something we definitely want to hear from her in the future!
