Darin has today premiered the video for his European single ‘So Yours’.
Here’s what we’ve written about the song itself previously.
*sigh* We like the song a lot, and the video is alright too (what exactly is going on in it though, we have no idea). But both just seem so out of sync with where Darin is right now. In his career, in his sound, everything really. It’s not even a case of two steps back, it’s more a case of two hundred steps into oblivion somewhere. Universal Sweden don’t have anything to do with the track, but he’s been getting into the promotional ‘trail’ in Europe, along with his German record label, which is nice. And if this helps break him in Europe and make him a bigger star with more longevity, then that’s absolutely fantastic. But why do it with a song that has absolutely nothing in common with anything from any of the albums that span his almost decade long career? It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense from where we’re sitting and with what we know. With ‘So Yours’ and its video, it’s almost as if he’s taking part in some one-off TV show project to trade places with another popstar for the day. It just doesn’t sound anything like him. And needless to say, he’s better than it.
