Tonight Sweden is going to be treated to something quite special when they tune into Idol. Darin will be performing a one off single that he’s released on Swedish iTunes today, a cover of Coldplay’s ‘Viva La Vida’. It’s not from a new album or anything, he’s just doing it…because!
The rest of the world will probably be able to view it on youtube from tomorrow morning. But in the meantime, PopPosterGirl has uploaded a 30 second clip on her website here. It’s a great song for him to cover. To our ears and minds, ‘Viva La Vida’ has already had some connections to Scandinavian pop music – we swear it sounds like BWO’s ‘Sunshine In The Rain’ and it’s got very similar strings to those in ‘Release Me’ by Agnes.
We’re hoping that his performance will be even half as stunning as the one-off cover he performed as the interval act at this year’s Melodifestivalen….
