Darin! This month he has just had a new song of his released. As part of a tribute album. Basically a whole load of Swedish artists have gotten together and each taken on a classic song from Ted Gärdestad. Darin – not unfamiliar with the practice, having himself lorded over Så Mycket Bättre not too long ago – opted for ‘Öppna Din Himmel’. And the result is a joy.
We’ll be honest – we would have preferred it had he raved the shit out it, ala ‘En Apa Som Liknar Dig’. But he didn’t. Instead he turned in a respectable, sombre homage. And it’s the softest of soft ballads. But it’s still a very nice listen. It IS Darin singing it, after all.
