One of our pop music highlights of 2011 has been having Aqua back.
Their ‘Megalomania’ album has turned out to be genuinely amazing (our own personal highlight being ‘Viva Las Vegas’). And their two comeback singles, ‘Playmate To Jesus’ and ‘Like A Robot’ rank as some of our favourite of the year. One of ‘Like A Robot’s songwriters also revealed on twitter recently that the song would soon be receiving a worldwide release – featuring a big name guest vocalist. Hmmm, we have no idea who it could be, but we’re keeping eyes and ears peeled.
Anyway, a comeback to music also means a comeback to television to promote said music. We’ve already seen them perform an acoustic version of ‘Playmate To Jesus’ last month, but now we get to see a massive outdoor performance of the proper version of the track. It was performed in Copenhagen’s Tivoli Park, and televised during the Danish edition of The Voice. So you can have a look at that below and see Aqua getting back into their regular performance groove, as opposed to just sticking with acoustic in a small studio.
Although if the latter is your kind of thing, then below that you can also see them on Norwegian morning television. There they performed a new acoustic edit of ‘Playmate To Jesus’, and gave the first TV performance of album track, ‘If The World Didn’t Suck’. Both of those are contained in the same video.
