Scandinavian duo Ask Embla have just released their third single in Norway, ‘I Fell In Love’.
It’s a bit of a change in sound from previous two singles ‘Cry Baby‘ and ‘Father’s Eyes‘. For a start they’ve ramped up the tempo a lot, and gone on a merry jaunt to clubland! Well, perhaps not so merry after all, considering the song is about falling in love with a bad man who steals a metaphorical. But the joviality of that “na-na-na-na-na-na-naaa” chorus certainly masks any discontent that this bad man, or lack of metaphorical sunlight, is causing our protagonists.
Despite it being an aforementioned slight change of sound for the pair, ‘I Fell In Love’ still carries that Ask Embla hallmark that we’ve already come to love – some shit-hot melodies. Check out this song and all that has gone before from them. They are a very good pop thing, and this debut album of theirs can’t come soon enough.
Oh and while you’re at it, here is the pair’s demo of the amazing ‘Impossible’ (which they also wrote), before it went to Shontelle and more recently, X Factor UK winner James Arthur.
