Amanda Fondell has this week returned with her new single and video. It’s the first in a while, since last summer’s ‘Let The Rain Fall’. And it seems to be a single for the German market first and foremost, with it getting more of a push there (a performance on German TV show ZDF-Fernsehgarten, and the video premiering on German site MyVideo). There’s no word on it yet from any of her social media platforms, but we guess she’s saving that for the Swedish release.
ANYWAY. It’s called ‘You Better Give Up Now’. And it’s actually not the huge departure in sound we expected from her after such a long time away. ‘You Better Give Up Now’ has shades of all of her previous singles, particularly ‘Bastard’. Its affinity with that one is probably down to its retro stylings and it’s catchy “la-la-la, la-la-la-la-la” choral post-chorus. The latter gives the song a good injection of joviality. In fact the whole thing is a strong comeback from the former Idol winner. Let’s hope she finally gets that album out soon.
‘You Better Give Up Now’ was written by Amanda herself, along with Darin (who wrote Amanda’s first number 1 single ‘All This Way’), Petra Marklund, and Niklas Bergwall.
