This pop gem came out a couple of weeks back, and has since turned out to be basically one of the best songs released this year so far. It’s amazing. It’s ‘All In My Head’ by Alvaro Estrella – the follow up to his Melodifestivalen 2014 hit ‘Bedroom’.
What does it sound like? What does it NOT sound like?! ‘All In My Head’ is the result of two Swedish songwriters crafting a pop song while giving precisely zero fucks about what any criticisms may come its way. And it sounds all the more awesome for it. Why can’t more people give just as few fucks, eh?!
‘All In My Head’ sounds like Jedward singing a song written by Greeks, made specifically to be entered as a Eurovision Song Contest – for Romania – while incorporating as many great elements of Swedish pop music as it can fit in its kitchen sink production. Like we said, amazing.
And it couldn’t have been given to a more suitable popstar. Alvaro Estrella delivers the song with the right amount of tongue in cheek needed – the same concentratedly carefree enthusiasm with which he made ‘Bedroom’ sound so brill. And he sounds like he’s having the time of his life while doing it. Always a pleasure for the listener.
‘All In My Head’ is written by Jakke Erixson (who was also behind Alvaro’s ‘Bedroom’) and Karl-Ola Kjellholm (serial Helena Paparizou writer, including ‘Survivor’!!!).
Listening to both of Alvaro Estrella’s singles on Spotify together is quite the exhilarating experience. HAVEN’T we got ourselves an exciting new popstar readers?!
