Danish artist Invader Girl is one of the most reliable popstars out there in terms of never failing to release anything less than stellar when it comes to her singles. And so it’s with a huge relief that she’s finally come out with her debut EP. And it’s an even bigger relief that she’s maintained that staunch, unfaultering approach to top quality standards, and applied them to said EP too. It’s ‘Dark Light’ and it’s out today. It features three tracks we’ve already written and raved about on here (but it bears repeating!) – ‘Danger Zone‘, ‘Casio‘, and the previously unreleased ‘Friends‘. Plus two brand new songs, ‘Underdog’ and ‘One Day’ – both of which live up to their predecessors. And finish off what’s a massively enjoyable record that we’re gonna be coming back to a lot. Check out the EP in full below (and also on her Soundcloud page, if you can’t get Spotify in your country), plus the video for new song ‘Underdog’ which she released this morning.
UPDATE
The perennially awesome Invader Girl has in the last 24 hours, very sadly announced that she is retiring the Invader Girl ‘project’. Sad news, but a (neon) light at the end of the tunnel is the fact that the lady behind Invader Girl – Camilla – will be back soon with an artistic reinvention AND some new tunes to boot. To commiserate, to mark the occasion, and to bring a bit of positivity into this difficult time – we’ve got a giveaway for you. Three ultra rare (even more so now) promo copies of Invader Girl’s ‘Dark Light’ EP. If you want one, share a link to this post on Twitter (and tag us (@scandipop) in the tweet at some point, so that we can see it), and give @InvaderGirl a follow too, so that you can be alerted when she comes back afresh. Three winners chosen in the new year.
You can find ‘Danger Zone’ on our Best New Synthpop playlist.
