‘Veritas’, the new album by Agnes, has been out for just over two weeks now. And it’s been released to a big fanfare of what’s been pretty much universal praise. We’ve yet to read a bad comment or review of the album as a whole, and we’ve been reading a lot of online responses, such is our interest in this album – our favourite of the year so far. The reaction has been Love Love Love, all around. With every listener and fan both old and new citing a different song on the eleven track album as their big favourite.
Of course we previewed each of those eleven songs ahead of the release of ‘Veritas’. But did you know that there were also two bonus tracks hidden away? Oh yes. The album’s release in Sweden comes with both an iTunes bonus track and with a Spotify bonus track. Let’s have a listen.
‘Unforgiven’ is the iTunes bonus track, written by Agnes herself along with Sharon Vaughn and Fraser T Smith. As is the ‘Veritas’ blueprint, it’s another up-tempo and catchy dancepop number, dripping with a heavy string section. The chorus is gut wrenchingly divine. And despite this perhaps not sounding like very high praise – trust us when we say that it’s a huge compliment that we consider the song to be amongst the top 9 best songs on ‘Veritas’!
The Spotify bonus track is ‘Heart Rate’. Like album highlight ‘Into The Sun’, it was written by Agnes along with Patrik Berger and Fredrik Berger. It’s another dance track, but a lot more down-played than any of the other non-ballads on ‘Veritas’. This is like the cooler older sister to everything else on the album, but still with the family bloodline pumping proudly through it. Mercifully.
