The (rather hefty) remix package for ‘Release Me’ by Agnes landed on our desk this morning. So it was quite an enjoyable start to the day being able to listen to NINE different versions of the song! Here’s what’s on the CD;

‘Release Me’ is such an amazing song in its own right that any remix is highly unlikely to improve on it. And whilst that’s turned out to be the case, there are a few that come very close anyway! The Extended Mix is exactly what an extended mix should be – it presents the song in its original form, using elements of the track to give it a longer intro, outro, and middle eight. And this extended mix uses the best part of the song – the piano breakdown, to give that extended intro. The Cahill Remix is probably our favourite makeover of the song. It’s subtly transformed into a pounding club track, whilst maintaining the blissful poppiness of the original. The Moto Blanco Mix. is more laidback, piano-lead house music. Nils Van Zandt gives it more of an electro house edge – the type of sound that’s been quite trendy on the commercial dance scene for the last couple of years. All in all, a good effort. We’ll be spinning the Extended Mix at the next scandipop club night!!!
