Well HERE’S something we didn’t think we’d be writing today when we woke up ladies and gents. Behold – a new schlager offering from Swedish drag act After Dark!
The song is the main number that featured in their most recent show ‘Let’s Go Party’. No release on iTunes, no release on Spotify, but today our fabulous Swedish friend Eden Victoria (her actual name!!!) alerted us to its presence on YouTube. She says she’d been looking for it for months. And on first listen, we could hear why!
Delightfully and mercifully, it’s TOTAL schlager. Up there with ‘La Dolce Vita’ in terms of catchiness, high campery, and glitter och glamour. There’s a great big gay choir, and an even greater, bigger, gayer key change. It’s everything you would want from an After Dark song. Screw the fact that it’s ten years later and their sound hasn’t moved on – when it sounds as ridicumazing as this, why would it!
