In the penultimate advent day before the big one, we present to you a different version of the song that started our advent calendar back on December 1st – ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’.
This version is another comedy interpretation, and like Shirley Clamp’s, that’s probably unintentionally so too! But like Shirley Clamp’s, this one is also far better than the boring original. It’s by Norwegian minxtress Linni Meister featuring Glam Aid – Glam Aid being a random collection of glamour model hotties and notties! The video is priceless, which is ironic given that it was probably budgetless too! It’s the least festive video ever, and instead is a series of shots of hotness and hotmess touching themselves up in a club.
As for the song itself, well whereas Shirley’s cover was a schlager update, this is a commercial electro house update, crossed with cheesy Euro house! Yes, WE KNOW, an electro house cover of ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’, it’s a ludicrous idea etc etc. But it’s happened and it’s here. In full frontal glory! The vocals are a mixture of deep voiced tranny, and autotuned mess – making the latest Bananarama Christmas single sound like it’s being performed by a gospel choir in comparison!
It goes without saying then, that we L.O.V.E. it!
