Ok, so we THINK that this is the most famous and most traditionally loved Christmas song in Sweden (although any Swedes reading should feel free to correct us on that one!). It’s been recorded and released by everyone from Christer Sjögren to Amy Diamond, Thorleifs to Ankie Bagger, and EMD to SSS (or Sanna, Shirley & Sonja, as they’re better known!). Although currently it’s the opening track on a Christmas album by Malena Erman. Her ‘Saint Lucia’ album has now spent three straight weeks in the album chart top three, since its release.

Such is the delicate, beautiful charm of ‘Jul, Jul, Strålande Jul’, that Malena Ernman’s version sounds that little bit extra special. So it’s her version that we’re including in our advent calender. Plus, the performance you’ll see below was performed live on Nyhetsmorgon this very morning! So it’s fresh as a daisy. And just as pretty. Awwww!

Click here to watch her performance of ‘Pie Jesu’ from this morning too.
