The Swedish version of The Voice has spawned its first listenable post-contest tune (the winner Ulf Nilsson’s single ‘Let The Angels See Me Home’ was some old countrified tripe). It comes courtesy of Helena Gutarra, and her single ‘Tongues Of Fire’.
Imagine Robyn taking things to a slightly rockier level……yeah, that’s ‘Tongues Of Fire’. It takes on the sanctity of Scandinavian electropop, but rather than do it in the usual Ice Queen stylings, Helena injects a great deal more ‘fun’ into it. It sounds like she’s having fun anyway, and the production has a more flippant energy to it than your standard Scandielectropop fare. And wait…..hang on……is that a key change we hear shoe horned in for the final chorus?!
