Regular scandipop readers might well recall us heralding the arrival of a brand new Danish electropop girl earlier this year – which is always an event in our book. ‘Twas Jasmin and her ‘Mit Rette Element’. Well now the good lady is back again with a brand new single – the equally sublime ‘Løber I Stiletter’ (‘Running In Stilettos’). Meaning that a) ‘Mit Rette Element’ wasn’t a fluke, and b) we’re now going to clasping eyes and ears even more firmly on Jasmin.
Let’s dissect this new single then….
Comparisons to Medina are obvious and quite frankly, lazy. But OMG, WTF, we’re gonna make them anyway. It’s got Medina’s trademark discourteously deep basslines paired with her usual electronic beats and topped off with a poppified melody. And of course the whole thing is in Danish too. Jasmine’s vocal has a much more innocent and youthful charm to it though. Whereas Medina is the voice of downtrodden experience, Jasmine’s conveys more of a yet-to-be-crumpled naivety. And we love how it sounds.
