The 2011 Melodifestivalen webjoker contest opens today. This year is a much more manageable event than last year’s veritable bun fight. And out of 570 entries, a much more palatable number of 32 have been chosen by Christer Björkman and SVT to compete in a ‘mini Melodifestivalen’ contest, before one winner then goes on to compete in THE Melodifestivalen in February next year.
This ‘mini MF’ is made up of 4 heats, each with 8 songs. People can vote each week for their favourite song, and then there’ll be a final, and then there’ll be a winner. Simple!
You can listen to the 8 songs in this week’s heat right here.
The names of all 32 songs and artists are revealed here.
The rules and the voting numbers can be found here.
We’re not gonna lie – there’s not much to get us excited in the first eight songs. However, upon first listen, we do quite like Maria BenHajji’s ‘I Mina Drömmar’. Yes, it’s quite nice.
So then, “nu kööörrrr viiiii“, we suppose!
