And thus Maria Mena has a brand new single out right now. *scream*!!!
The album is ‘Viktoria’, and the single is ‘Homeless’. She’s been gifting fans with teasers of each track over on her Facebook page for the last week or so. But of course you can hear ‘Homeless’ in full below, as that’s the single. So that’s what we’re gonna talk about today.
Maria Mena is so far into her career now, that you already know what you’re getting from her with a new single. That’s not to say that she’s become formulaic. More that she’s found a sound that she does exceedingly well, she enjoys doing that sound, and everything she does is lapped up gratefully by her fans. So why rock the boat?!
So even though we needn’t tell you what it sounds like, we will regardless say that it’s soft, soothing, heartwarming, and beautifully melodic. The chorus has a “I-I-I-I” vocal riff reminiscent of one of her finest ever moments, ‘Just Hold Me’. And her voice has a particular tenderness that evokes pleasant memories of one of her other finest moments, ‘All This Time’.
Maria Mena really is incredible. If you’ve yet to explore her back catalogue in full, use only this brief taste of what she’s capable of, as a little incentive.
