Norway is currently bracing itself for the arrival of the debut album from a one Lise Karlsnes. Formerly the front woman of the band Briskeby, with them she achieved three gold selling albums, numerous hits, and an MTV award nomination. Since departing though, she’s been crafting her own solo sound – and today we were delighted to hear what it is she’s come up with!
Her first solo single arrived this week, called ‘Red Hot’. It’s a poppified, up-tempo electro number. Dressed up in 80’s glamour, drenched in neon war paint, and shimmering in stage glitter. It’s not a million miles away from what neighbouring Sweden produced this year with Vanbot, actually. We fell for it on first listen, and went straight back for several more plays!
The video premiered today on Norwegian newspaper VG’s website. And that’s another spectrum of fabulousness to fall in love with. She parades around like a cross between Marina from BWO and Saffron from Republica, veritably RAVING with an infectious display of glee over the fact that she’s getting the chance to present this extra special song to the world. And it’s a totally understandable joy of course – ‘Red Hot’ genuinely is ACE!
