The second single from Roxette’s 2011 comeback, ‘Speak To Me’, finally gets its own video this week.
It’s an ‘on the road’ affair, documenting the best of the behind the scenes action of what went on when Roxette went on tour this year. Footage from their live shows, plus them frolicking about off-stage. And lots of close ups of a ickle baby black cat! How sweet. But all in all, a real glimpse of the duo out and about doing their live thing.
The comeback’s been an odd one though, we have to say. Or let’s just call it “unconventional” for the sake of being kind. They bring out a brand new album, their first in ten years – and then go and tour their Greatest Hits instead. And in doing so, abandon all promotion for this new album. It all looked so promising when it was revealed that they’d brought in Bassflow to produce a single mix of ‘Speak To Me’ back in April – someone, somewhere in team Roxette was getting it very right. However, nothing much came of it. And this video has been unceremoniously kicked out discreetly from their trouser leg four months later, like the unwanted turd that’s been the product of this whole album campaign crapping itself in braindead confusion.
The band is better than this. The single is most definitely better than this too, it’s incredible. But hey-ho, they’ve clearly been doing a stellar job on tour and there are a lot of happy fans. We just think that things could have been timed better so that everything wasn’t fitted in within the same six months, THAT’S ALL!
