Sweden’s got itself a brand new girlband. A seven strong troupe going by the name of Hollywood Dolls!
They’re positioning themselves as something of a cross between Spice Girls and Pussycat Dolls – even going so far as to have given themselves their own group nicknames. SO – everybody meet;
•Paulina (singer) – Barbie Doll
•Mikaela (singer) – Rock Doll
•Mirian (singer) – Wild Doll
•Amanda (dancer) – Candy Doll
•Cecilia (dancer) – Juicy Doll
•Elisabeth (dancer) – Passion Doll
•Hanna (dancer) – Lover Doll
You can just TELL this is going to be right up our street, can’t you?!
The group is the brainchild of Paulina Starborn – Barbie Doll (oooh, we’re loving this already!). Paulina found fame on Swedish TV show, Ung & Bortskämd, a while back, and put the group together to fulfill her music ambitions. Well girls, you keep those ambitions burning and producing, and we’ll keep listening and writing, we promise!

Their debut single is called ‘Hollywood Doll’ and they’ve gone and filmed a video for it, which you can see below. It’s girlband r&b pop with a nod to the aforementioned girlgroups – Spice Girls and Pussycat Dolls. And by that we mean that it sounds like it was made somewhere between five and fifteen years ago. But that’s obviously because they are paying homage to a particular sound, rather than the song being dated or anything like that. It’s all a lot of fun, with a little bit of attitude.
