Earlier in the year we introduced you to a young Swedish gentleman called Andreas Wijk. He’s primarily known in Sweden as a male model and fashion blogger – actually he’s probably one of the most famous male models or fashion bloggers there has ever been in Sweden! And now he’s launching a singing career, with the help of Fredrik Kempe. Fredrik has composed Andreas’ debut single, ‘Like My Style’. And on Wednesday this week, it FINALLY got its release on Swedish iTunes and Spotify.
The song is an uptempo electropop number, with its electro bits placed firmly in POP! It also sounds really current, like a poppier variation of Britney’s ‘Till The World Ends’ or a Ke$ha track. It’s definitely a catchy tune, with a big chorus packed with attitude. Our favourite bit though is the deep electro middle eight which then transforms into a piece of piano balladry briefly. Lyrically it doesn’t sway too far from what everyone knows Andreas for – fashion, cameras, style. But that’s probably the wisest move since it is his introductory single after all.
After only one day on release, ‘Like My Style’ was already at number 2 on the Swedish iTunes chart, so can already be counted as a success for the debut artist.
