The penultimate episode of Dansbandskampen 2010 was at the weekend. Three remaining dansbands fought for two places in the grand final, and the eliminated dansbands from earlier in the series were given one more shot at a place in the final, as the public voted one back into the competition.
As with the last two weeks, the remaining dansbands performed one cover version and one brand new song that had been specially composed. And this week, Sarah Dawn Finer and Thomas G:son were amongst the songwriters contributing songs.
Elisa’s were given ‘Säg Inte Nej’ written by Sarah Dawn Finer and Peter Hallström. It’s a nice enough mid tempo ballad. Quite traditionally dansband too, which surprised us given that it came from SDF. Perhaps even a little TOO traditional dansband for us. Patrik’s Combo performed a similar sounding song which we’d also describe as a classic dansband ballad. They did ‘För Alltid’, written by Thomas G:son and Henrik Sethsson. It was slightly better than the Elisa’s song, but we enjoyed it slightly less, as the singer didn’t make a very good job of it. We’d like to hear it on record though, so that we could judge it properly. For us, the live performance was a bit off.
Finally, Willez sang ‘Då Går Vi Hem Till Mig’ by Mats Larsson and Peter Nord. More uptempo than the other two, but still very much in the traditional and classic mould. We would have preferred a more schlagerfied version, with a female vocal – but then admittedly we do find ourselves thinking that about most songs in existance!
In summary, we liked all three, but didn’t love any of them, unlike in previous weeks. As for the results, Patrik’s Combo were shown the door, and so Elisa’s and Willez progress straight to the final. But now for the best news of all! Guess which eliminated dansband made it back into the competition and will compete in this weekend’s final?……
ONLY BLOODY CC & LEE!
Fantastic news. We had almost lost faith in the Swedish televoting public after they were knocked out and had come in the bottom two quite a number of times. So it’s great that they’re back in the final. As for who we want to win? Well, a CC & Lee win would be top of our list of course, but we’d also be very happy with a win for Elisa’s. They’ve come from nowhere and charmed their way into our hearts with their performances, becoming not just one of our favourite new dansbands, but also one of our favourite new music acts of the year too!
You can watch the three new songs below.
