OMG did it win? It did not. But it was awarded with the most beautiful performance featuring Molly Sandén, a choir of Húsavík schoolgirls, some premium-quality lopi sweaters and a backdrop of fireworks over the town of Húsavík itself.
Húsavík itself? The performance was done in actual Húsavík and beamed out to the rest of the world. So while ‘Husavik’ might not have won an Oscar, Húsavík has won quite a few million people who are going to wanna come visit once they can again.
And an Oscar nomination is something they will always have too. Which is incredible. It’s been quite the journey for the town so far. Wonder if Netflix would make a film about it…
