What’s this? New music from Swedish duo Tomode – their third. This is ‘Golden Retriever’.
Golden Retriever? “I’m a believer. Like a golden retriever.”
Fair enough, you can’t argue with that. What’s the song like? A gargantuan pop tune that has its influences firmly in the past – calling upon classic disco, classic synthpop, and even classic schlager! We adore every beat of this song.
What do Tomode say? “We wanted to capture that ‘take-a-drive-with-dad-feeling’, the anticipation and freedom of being on the summer road with the windows down, the biggest dilemma being what snack to bring in the car. We want the song to evoke that naive optimism that we embrace as kids, but which gets worn down as we get older. The world needs more friendly Golden Retrievers and less downtrodden skeptics.”
