SVT this morning announced the latest participant in Melodifestivalen 2011. Nicke Borg, of the group Backyard Babies. The group were formed in 1987 and have released five studio albums, won a Swedish grammy, and are generally respected and well known. Nicke’s inclusion brings even more diversity to next year’s Melodifestivalen stage! We hope he’s competing against Babsan in his heat!
Normally this type of artist (rock) wouldn’t get us too excited (although we are VERY partial to a gentleman with tattoos), however, the songwriting credentials of the guys behind his song ‘Leaving Home’, have got some MAJOR pop credentials behind them. Between them, Fredrik Thomander, Gary Wikström, and Jojo Borg Larsson have had a hand or two in hits by – *NSync, Dreamstreet, Darin, Natural, A*Teens, Gotthard, Backyard Babies, Markus Fagervall, Bosson, Jessica Folker, Agnes Carlsson, No Angels, and Kim Wilde.
