My Marianne? That looks a hell of a lot like Molly Sandén. That is Molly Sandén! My Marianne is her artist alter-ego – the one she’s used to provide vocals for Rachel McAdams’ character in the new Eurovision movie, The Story of Fire Saga. We guess not doing it under her own name helps not muddle up her own Spotify profile etc.
Makes sense. And the song? The song is ‘Húsavík’ – which is THE big music moment of the film (and you can check out our Top 10 music moments from the film right here). It’s the hair-stand-on-end moment, or even the teary-eyed moment, depending on how emotional a person you are. But regardless of your position on the spectrum of human emotions, it’s a moment! In a nutshell, it’s 2020’s answer to ‘Never Enough’ from The Greatest Showman. And Christ knows that 2020 needed an answer to that song. It comes in the form of a huge schlager ballad about the affinity one feels for their home town – in this case, Húsavík in the north of Iceland. The whole things all falls into place once you watch the film, honestly.
Written by? Savan Kotecha, Rickard Göransson and Max Grahn.
