Bjørn Again

Oh we’re very pleasantly surprised by the new single from Bjørn Johan Muri. The young Norwegian chap took part in Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix earlier this year with ‘Yes Man’. And whilst we were in the minority that didn’t really like it, it actually went on to reach number 1 despite not winning the contest, and has been one of the biggest hits of the year so far over there. Follow up single ‘Circles’ didn’t do anything for us either.

But new single ‘Once Upon A Time’ is MUCH more like it. It’s eighties-synthtastic, not just paying tribute to the decade, but also evoking a full on eighties atmosphere to it. It’s a gorgeous listen, with a strange, but very appealing chorus. Actually, we think the song sounds a little bit like Owl City’s ‘Fireflies’ too, the melodies in the music anyway, not the vocals. And there’s a definite hint of summer in there too.

It’s from his debut album ‘Airwaves’. Oh go on, have a listen. It’s very good!
