As we gear up for the return of one of the most iconic Swedish artists of the decade – Loreen – we’re taking a look back at all of the live performances from her that we’ve featured here on Scandipop over the years.

This Saturday she’ll compete in the fourth heat of Melodifestivalen 2017, with the song ‘Statements’. As a former Melodifestivalen winner, and the performer behind what is arguably the most prolific win of the Eurovision Song Contest so far this century, it’s fair to assume that Loreen won’t be too fussed about whether she wins either contest or not this year. Instead, as with so many other artists who participate in Melodifestivalen, she’ll be using the platform as a promotional tool for her new album. It is, after all, the biggest promotional push an artist can get in Sweden in any year. And after over three years spent in artistic limbo, and in commercial freefall, few big-name artists need to remind the viewing public of their greatness quite like Loreen does.

Regardless of the fact that she’s managed to release only two fully fledged singles in almost four years, what has remained consistent throughout this time is Loreen’s unquestionable ability to perform a song on stage. And whether she’s been appearing at award ceremonies taking on covers of other people’s songs, or showing up on breakfast television to tease new tracks from “my new album”, she never fails to reveal herself as a phenomenal performer.

Last week marked the sixth anniversary of the first live performance from her that we had on here – her Melodifestivalen performance of ‘My Heart Is Refusing Me’. And since then, we’ve gone on to feature many more. So while we wait for this Saturday’s big live comeback with ‘Statements’, below we’re reliving it all through Loreen: Live On Scandipop.
