Global superstar (*SCREAM*) Zara Larsson returned this month with her brand new single. It’s her first new single on her own (so not counting the three collabs ‘Never Forget You’, ‘Girls Like’, or ‘This One’s For You’) since she first put out ‘Lush Life’ in Sweden back in June 2015. Which is quite incredible really, when you think of how big she’s consistently been over the past year or so. The new single is ‘Ain’t My Fault’, written by Zara herself, along with Mack and MNEK, and produced by MNEK with additional production by Mike Spencer. It’s a thoroughly enormous tune, with a stonking great bassline, a brass riff, and an ACTUAL alarm bell. All topped off with a star vocal turn from Zara – veering between belting out the big notes and ripping out some rap. On first listen it fits right in with the rest of the 2016 pop soundscape. But a second listen reveals ‘Ain’t My Fault’ to be a step above everything else, in truth. Thanks mostly to the chorus melody, and to Zara herself. Today she releases the music video for the song (premiered over on Cosmopolitan) in which she takes over an Essex mansion. Fair. Watch that below, along with the first live TV performance of the song, which she gave over the weekend – on the Jonathan Ross show in the UK.
