Denmark had their national final last night, to decide their 2010 Eurovision entry. And here’s our rundown of the show;

Ten songs competed to be the winner, and after the first round of votes, the top four songs progressed to the next round, while the bottom six were eliminated. Here’s the bottom six;

Wow, our favourite of the ten for so many reasons. The costumes, the dancing, the great live vocals, the catwalk strut for the last chorus, the wind machine……but most of all, the great song! Strings and bells and dance beats. What more could you want?!

We love this hot mess! The dress gimick was a cross between Velvet and Mira Craig, and what on earth was the point of that dancer? If only to make the performance all the more odd when he disappeared under her dress at the end! Good song though.

Another one we really liked. Total pop melodies over faux heavy metal music. Brilliant! And this gent’s voice was quite something too. We’re surprised this didn’t do better actually.

The only one of the night that we didn’t like really. Just generally underwhelming.

Another hot mess that we couldn’t help but love! Like we said earlier in the week, this really echoed Sukkerchok’s entry from last year. Pure pop.

The performance of this isn’t online yet unfortunately, but based on the song alone, we’re very surprised that this didn’t do a lot better. It’s so catchy! And an even better version of the winners of the 2008 and 2009 Danish Melodi Grand Prix’s.

So that was them six. And the following four made it through to the next round. They were put against each other, until the two winning songs were then forwarded to the final round. The two songs that were eliminated at this stage are below;

This would have been another great winner. The song is top notch, the performance was brilliant, and the staging was verging on epic!

We like this, but don’t think it deserved to get as far in the competition as it did. Five of the six songs eliminated before it were better! But still, it’s an enjoyable enough performance, if nothing special.

And then there were too! This next song put up a good fight, and was probably the favourite to win, going by the style of Denmark’s choices in recent years, but it fell at the final hurdle.

That looked and sounded like a winner didn’t it?! But it wasn’t one of our absolute favourites despite quite liking it. The actual winner however, WAS one of our favourites. It was co-penned by Thomas G:Son, so we were always gonna have high hopes for it. And it didn’t let us down. A great song with a performance that suited it perfectly. And the chorus sounds like it was lifted right out of an eighties American romantic film! And oh, that key change does things to us!

And here it is; the Danish entry to this year’s Eurovision!
