Who? Two DJs and producers from Helsinki in Finland. Petri Mäkitalo and Ramon Soivio. Together they’re known as Tom & Hills (no – we don’t know where they came up with those monikers either), and roped in LA based singer Troi for this new single ‘Lighters’.
What’s it like? This one is BIG. Very uplifting electropop with a vague steering towards clubland territory, slight influences from glamrock, and a touch of the classical thrown in for completion. Their melody and Troi’s vocal delivery elevate the song into something very special indeed. It’s a repeater, this one.
Best bit? It has to be where it all gets a VERY dramatic for a brief moment from the 2:20 point.
