Norwegian singer Elisabeth Carew has recently returned with a brand new EP ‘Thirst’. It’s not available on Spotify outside of Norway, which is frustrating. However, she has uploaded the lead single from the EP to her Soundcoud page (not to Spotify though….), so we can share that with you. It’s called ‘Visionary’. And it’s well worth a listen or twenty.
As the title hints at, ‘Visionary’ isn’t something that you’re hearing very many other people doing right now. It somehow merges quite seamlessly a concoction of house music, electropop, and r&b. Without ever sounding a mess. Not exactly a small feat. And Elisabeth does her thing over the top of it, without it sounding like it’s any kind of effort. ‘Visionary’ was written and produced by Elisabeth, along with her regular producer and ex-boyfriend Thomas Eriksen. And there’s a cheeky but knowing declaration from them at the end – a repeated chant of “we’re gonna run the world one day”. We’d well believe it.
