Swedish duo First Aid Kit have been on a bit of a break since their commercially and critically successful ‘The Lion’s Roar’ album in 2012, and its subsequent singles. But this evening on Swedish radio station P3, the girls have premiered their new single, and the first taste of their forthcoming album. It’s ‘My Silver Lining’.
It’s a bombastic journey into the retro. These girls have always loved to delve into the past for inspiration to their sound. And they continue to do so with ‘My Silver Lining’. This time around though, it all sounds a little more sophisticated. Perhaps even a little bit sensual? That’s probably down the song’s massive reliance on BIG STRINGS. And let’s face it – all pop music, whatever subgenre it belongs to, sounds better with BIG STRINGS. ‘My Silver Lining’ is instantly one of their finer moments.
You can listen to ‘My Silver Lining’ over on P3’s website now.
‘My Silver Lining’ is released tomorrow in Sweden, the first single to be taken from their new album ‘Stay Gold’.
