Norwegian popstress Carina Dahl has just come out with her new single – the latest in a long line of quality tuuuuunnnes. It’s ‘If That’s The Only Way’, and it’s one of her better ones too.
A shamelessly simplistic pop track that puts all the strength it has into forcing you to remember the chorus once it’s finished playing. It doesn’t attempt to be or do anything else, and so does a spiffing job of the task in hand. “oh-oh-oh, baby you should play me on your ste-re-o, if that’s the only way that I can let-you-know, I will sing my heart out on my ra-di-o, oh-oh-oh-oh“. BRILLIANT!
It makes the art of the pop chorus seem like such an easy thing to master – until you remember all those times that artists have thrown much more at it, for much lesser results.
Sorry, but we’re not gonna mention anything else about the song. It really is ALL about the chorus. Although hang on – the strings are quite amazing too. Especially when they’re aping the chorus melody. Then they’re even better.
‘If That’s The Only Way’ is out now, and has been released outside of Norway too. It was written by Carina herself, along with Elias Kapari and David Hedvall.
