One of our favourite newcomers of 2013, Truls, is back with his third single. It’s ‘Tear Me Up’.
A little bit of a departure from his previous two singles – the stellar ‘Out Of Yourself‘ and the also very good ‘The Next‘ – ‘Tear Me Up’ finds him slowing things down to a Sound of Arrows pace. Dreamy electropop with his usual falsetto vocal shoehorned in so that it makes the song his and nobody else’s. ‘Tear Me Up’ takes a couple of listens, but it gets there in the end.
He’s just about to release his debut album ‘TRVLS’, so we reckon this single was chosen to showcase his versatility. But we’re not gonna pretend that we don’t want an album otherwise full of showstoppers like ‘Out Of Yourself’. Either way though, it’s an album we’re looking forward to.
