Swedish singer Jenny Red (whom some of you may remember as Jenny Redenkvist) has just gone and released this bizarre concoction of a brilliant pop song, which we’re currently all over.
‘Star In The Night’ manages the impressive feat of sounding like a multitude of genres, despite not ever seeming like it’s even trying to. It’s an overblown schlager ballad that relentlessly threatens to turn into a poppers o’clock camp-o-thon, while cooing the melody of a gothic rock scream fest. And all the while Jenny is innocently getting along with the job in hand – delivering her song as solemnly as possible – blissfully unaware that she’s stumbled upon the musical missing link. Or something along those lines anyway.
The final minute is ludicrous. In a good way.
