JesperNohrstedtSunshine

Danish pop chap Jesper Nohrstedt is back with a brand new single, his first in quite some time. Well actually he released in May. But it’s only appeared online in full recently, so there you go.

You may remember Jesper Nohrstedt from his successful stint on the Danish version of X Factor. Or perhaps from his contribution to Melodi Grand Prix last year, ‘Take Our Hearts‘. Or potentially from the AMAZING collaboration with Danish dance producer that ensued, ‘Glorious‘. Well new single ‘Sunshine’ sounds nothing like any of that. Synths have been replaced with organic and minimal sounds. And it’s a simplistic, heart-on-its-sleeve summertime jam. Hence the title. And the season in which he’s releasing it.

One thing that remains from the Jesper of yesteryear though, is the inclusion of the big pop melody. The verses are a lot more subtle and downplayed, but the chorus brings it all right back to The Big P.O.P. Actually, the melody of the chorus reminds us of two other tracks, each very different from each other. ‘Funky At Heart’ by Studio Killers, and ‘These Words’ by Natasha Bedingfield. Great songs, both of them. As is this.

Out now, and released outside of his native Denmark too.
