The penultimate week before the final, and that means that eight songs get one last chance to nab one of the two positions left in that final.
It’s Andra Chansen week!
All of the songs that finished 3rd and 4th in their heats over the last four weeks will battle it out this weekend, with two emerging triumphant. There’s a change in the rules this year though. Whereas in previous years there would be four sets of duels to determine four winners, and then two more duels between them to find the two finalists, this year that’s been scrapped. Instead, all eight songs will perform as normal, with five songs progressing to a second round, and the other three songs being eliminated. Voting lines will open again, and then five become four. And then the duels start. The song which has finished top of the voting will be placed against the song which has finished 4th, and the song in 2nd will be pitted against the 3rd placer. The Swedish public will vote in both of these duels, and the two winners of those are the two songs that will go to the final.
Simple! Pretty much.
But whom do we expect to be going through?…..
So far, the big favourites on iTunes out of these lot, have been Anton Ewald, Robin Stjernberg, and Behrang Miri. Martin Rolinski and Erik Segerstedt & Tone Damli have been floating above and below the number 20 mark respectively, and then the other three – Eric Gadd, Caroline af Ugglas, and Cookies n’Beans – haven’t really had a look in.
The betting agencies and the experts have Anton Ewald down as the guaranteed qualifier, with the second spot most likely going to either Robin Stjernberg or Martin Rolinski. Carolina af Ugglas can’t be counted out though, after what she achieved the last time she found herself in Andra Chansen. And Erik Segerstedt & Tone Damli and Behrang Miri have proved themselves to be big fan favourites, so they could surprise too. It’s fair to say though, that Eric Gadd and Cookie n’Beans are the two total outsiders here.
Below you’ll find all eight song in the starting order they’ll be competing in on Saturday. You’ll find all of the performances over at SVT’s website.
Before that though, take a second to vote in our ‘Alternative Andra Chansen’ reader poll, to find two more finalists for our Alternative Melodifestivalen Final (we’ve taken it upon ourselves to alter the results of the heats, and create a much better final!).
And the Melodifestivalen CD featuring all 32 songs is available NOW from our store.
