Our very favourite Swedish dansband Elisa’s are coming out with a Christmas single. ‘Christmas Is Here’, they’re saying. And yes, yes it is.
Not released until November 28th, but today they’re giving Scandipop readers a lengthy preview listen.
It’s a Christmas ballad. Less of a log fire Christmas ballad though, and more of a wrapped in marzipan, dipped in syrup, smothered in frosting, and washed down with a generous cup of eggnog kind of Christmas ballad. It’s got the choir, it’s got the sleigh bells, and it’s got the ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’-esque message within the lyrics. But of course what we love about it most of it all is it’s big ol’ melody, delivered gorgeously by Elisa’s always fantastic vocals.
Elisa’s have said that we can stream 90 seconds of our choice – so we’ve gone with the final segment, from the 1:42 mark. Why? Because it incorporates the second chorus, the amazing middle eight, and the triumphantly joyous and OTT final chorus! And that latter part is the best bit, naturally. It lifts the roof!
