So then, Tuesday July 14th will see the first ever scandipop live take place. And to kick things off we’ve got Johan Becker of Star Pilots coming to perform for you in the heart of Soho, London.
Johan is the vocalist and songwriter behind Star Pilots. They had one of the biggest dance hits of 2008 in Sweden with ‘In The Heat of the Night’, which also got a UK release in May this year where it achieved BBC Radio 1 A-List status and became a top 30 hit. In Sweden, they followed up ‘In The Heat of the Night’ with ‘Higher’, participating in this year’s Melodifestivalen and holding down over a month’s long residency in the top 10! Johan himself became a household name in Sweden when he won Fame Factory, an X-Factor style television show. And at the moment he’s working on an exciting new project with legendary songwriter Anders Hansson – the genius behind the most recent Agnes album, most of BWO’s musical output, and early Alcazar gems. scandipop live will be Johan’s first ever UK gig.
The first scandipop live will be hosted by Escape, on Brewer Street in Soho. Doors open at 7.30, just in time for a refreshing after work drink – when we’ll commence playing all the best Scandinavian pop, dance, and schlager music that you’ll be accustomed to from the previous scandipop club nights. We’ll finish DJing at midnight, just in time for you to catch the last tube home – but you can also stay on at Escape, where the regular DJ’s will be playing commercial dance and pop until 3am. It’s really recommended that you arrive as early as possible – as once the venue is full, we won’t be able to let anymore people in. And we’d certainly suggest that you arrive before 9pm, as Johan will be performing at some point between 9 and 10. Entry to Johan Becker at scandipop live costs £5. Entry is only available on the door on the night, there are no tickets on sale before then, so again, we’d recommend that you get down as early as possible to avoid disappointment.
And yes – he WILL be wearing that uniform from his Melodifestivalen performance!
