The second day of our previews of the new Agnes album ‘Veritas’. Let’s go with another of our favourites – track 9, ‘Like God’.

When we first heard this we likened it to the title track of Kylie Minogue’s ‘Lightyears’ album. NO FAINT PRAISE. A militant electrodisco production married to an otherworldly lyric. Agnes sings the whole thing in a fittingly angelic high pitch, save for the outstanding lower register backing vocals that she provides in the chorus, which resemble something of an ecclesiastical choir. And given the title, we guess that’s the point. This isn’t something we expected to hear on the new Agnes album, but by Christ, we’re glad it’s there!
