Good on ol’ Zara Larsson for putting out the utterly fantastic debut album (‘1’) that we all wanted from her. Albeit in the Scandilands only. But here – if you live outside of Scandinavia, then you can buy the CD from our store.

Anyway, we’ve been giving it lots of heavy spinnage over the last few weeks. And while there are a number of gems on the album, there is one song in particular that is just EVERYTHING, and needs singling out and brought to everyone’s attention. So we’re gonna do our bit to make that happen.

‘Weak Heart’.

It’s a mega ballad with a soaring melody that gets bellowed out over the top of some properly dramatic beats. Film soundtrack standard. EIGHTIES film soundtrack standard. That’s how good we’re talking here. And the lyrics are somewhat genius in that they’re perfect for a girl of Zara’s age, yet at the same time quite grown up and so therefore really clever. We adore it. It’s a big repeater.

Ironically, it’s a better Beyonce ballad than any ballad that Beyonce has actually released herself in a very long time – with Beyonce being Zara’s absolute idol.

Our ONLY gripe with the song is that it’s too damn short. As in, annoyingly short. After the middle eight, instead of exploding into the climatic chorus, we just get two lines and then the song ends. So you end up feeling quite short changed by the whole thing. ‘Weak Heart’ could really have done with being a four and a half minute epic.
