Independent Swedish label 100 Songs unleashed another sonic treat this week! The debut single from Sweden’s Violet Days – ‘Razorheart’. The country responded favourably, and sent it straight to the top of the iTunes chart. Rightly so.
Violet Days may look like an indie rock band (they may even BE one – perish the thought!), but ‘Razorheart’ is very much a grande pop song. Helped along by a reliable “oh-oh-oh” vocal riff, the catchy chorus is one that gets it very right – and is the song’s clear highlight. We’re also loving the tinkly piano throughout. We always do.
Violet Days are frontwoman Lina Hansson, plus Kristoffer Eriksson, Fredrik Haggstam and Fredric Johansson. They got together four years ago and now ‘Razorheart’ is their first single. What a journey/slog THAT must have been!
