What’s this? Swedish artist Patrik Jean is back with his first release since introducing himself to a wider audience back in February – via his Melodifestivalen entry ‘Tears Run Dry’. This is his new single ‘Gravitate’ – the music video for which he’s just released.
What happens in the vid? When an arcade game becomes all too real, our hero is dragged through a space wormhole to meet an other-worldly being. And we’re not entirely sure she wouldn’t have reacted in the same way to said being, had we found ourselves in the same position as Mr Jean…
What’s the song like? On it, he appears to be gravitating towards a new sound! With this new song, we get to hear Patrik dabble in synth-infused pop, tailoring his vocals to perform alongside some sultry electronica. It’s a left-hand turn, but he’s manoeuvred it beautifully. And whether this ends up being a one-off amongst his back catalogue or the beginning of a whole new direction for him, ‘Gravitate’ is sure to be one of his songs to keep coming back to.
What does Patrik say? “‘Gravitate’ is a tribute to that person whom you always revolve around. I wanted to create something very conceptual, where I allowed myself to think completely freely and play with metaphors to describe that love you can not be without.”
