What’s this? Norwegian group NorthKid have just released the gorge music video for their gorge new single ‘Someone’.
That’s a lot of gorge. It really is! Let’s start with the song. ‘Tis a ballad with a stadium-anthem production. Bittersweet in lyric, strong in melody, and engaging in vocal. A masterclass on how to craft a modern-day pop ballad.
And the video? There are two layers of beauty to it. Firstly, there’s the location – set in stunning Alta in northern Norway (where the boys are from). And then there’s the story – and its twist – which honestly, we’re not gonna get into, because we don’t wanna spoil it. But suffice to say, if you give this video a watch, you’ll be rewarded with a warm feeling in your heart and a tear or twenty in your eyes.
Written by? Alex Charles, Helge Moen, Jim Bergsted and Sandra Lyng.
More from NorthKid? Ah yes, there’s also the matter of Melodi Grand Prix. Next month they’ll be competing in the Norwegian national final for Eurovision with ‘Someone’. On Saturday night’s show they gave a preview performance of the song, which you can watch right here.
You can find ‘Someone’ on our Best New Pop playlist.
