It’s been a while! And after two years since we last got a new single from her, this month we welcome back Molly (no Pettersson anymore) Hammar and her new single ‘Blossom’ – the video for which she released over the weekend. Her debut EP ‘SEX’ follows later in the month.
What does Molly Say? “Many women are singing about sex, but almost every time it’s to please the male gaze. And very few are willing to go all the way. I wanted to sing about sex in a completely uninhibited way and encourage people to have more sex and not fret to talk about it.”
What does Scandipop say? The track finds Molly heading into a more stripped back, r&b direction. And for those of us who have loved her incredible voice for some time now, it’s awesome to hear just how well suited it is to this new sound and style she’s pursuing.
Written by? Molly herself, and produced with Lucas Nord and Nils Tull. And Lucas himself has some kind words to say about the whole thing: “When the EP concept was presented to me by Molly, I immediately knew this was gonna be something great and that I had to be a part of it. She is one of the best singers I’ve ever heard and to work with her and one of my closest friends Melo (Nils) has been a dream. I feel like we really managed to take the songs to that place we intended to and I’m incredibly proud of them. This will shine a new light on Molly as an artist and showcase a completely new side to her which I’m very excited for people to see.”
You can find ‘Blossom’ on our Best New Pop playlist.
