Vanessa Falk has just come out with her new single and video. It’s ‘Hurt’ – a song that she wrote in tribute to her brother William who has passed away. And one which perhaps has a double meaning now – as since it was composed, Vanessa’s father, legendary Swedish writer and producer Christan Falk, has also died after losing his battle with cancer.
‘Hurt’ is an emotional ballad – obviously. With a chorus that starts off “you needed to stay a little longer” and ends with “no one should hurt like this“, it’s one that tugs on the heart strings quite a bit. Musically though, it’s a beautifully uplifting piece, thanks to its melody and the fact that it ends on a massive crescendo.
Contains dubstep bits. A ballad with dubstep bits – always a joy.
No word yet on a new album or EP, but we imagine that with everything that’s been happening in Vanessa Falk’s life recently, it won’t be long until she puts all of what she’s been going through into a collection of songs.
And she’s set the bar high with ‘Hurt’;
