Here’s the debut single and video from new Swedish pop boy Ulrik Munther, ‘Boys Don’t Cry’.
We’re written about him on here before, and he’s nominated in our ‘Brightest New Hope’ category at the 2011 scandipop awards (which Eric Saade won last year!), but this is his ‘proper’ launch. We heard the song for the first time last week and to be honest, weren’t too enamored with it. But it’s grown on us a lot over the last few days, and now with the appearance of the video, we’re sold on it full time! There’s something about the video which just adds an extra charm, and finally makes the song connect.
It’s guitar based, heavily. And some heavier drum beats appear in the second verse. But after a few listens, what you’re left with is a damn fine chorus in your head. And isn’t that what a pop song is for after all?!
It’s released in Sweden in January.
