In a refreshing display of genre switching out-of-sorts-ness, the normally quite ‘serious’ Danish gentlman singer Thomas Holm has broken out in a fit of ravedom for his new single ‘Byen Kalder’.
This is a fantastic turn of events. Visually popping on the shades to venture out into a clubland that’s unfamiliar to him (or at least that’s what WE’RE getting from the artwork above), Thomas has released a song that even surpasses his fellow countryman and music contemporary Rasmus Seebach in the dance music stakes. ‘Byen Kalder’ sounds like it could be an Avicii single. Or a Swedish House Mafia track. And one of the better ones from either of them, at that.
The synths, the HOOJ chorus, the slightly sad SLASH very melodic verses…….and it’s even a Eurovision friendly three minutes in length.
Bravo, Thomas Holm, on your new discovery of hands-in-the-air abandon. Keep them up in the air, share the fun.
Quite pleasingly, the single was also released outside of Denmark yesterday. So you can buy it in the UK too if this takes your fancy;
